Project Roles
Project Roles allow you to apply a set of project permissions to users you invite to a project. Permissions give you granular control over what users can see and the actions they can take.
For example, if you want subcontractors to only see documents related to their companies, you can specify which documents should have the View Own permission and save those permissions to a Subcontractor project role. Once the role is set up, you can assign it to any subcontractors you invite to your projects.
You can also update a project role at any time. When you update a role, the changes are automatically applied to any users or companies assigned to that role on your projects.

Create a Project Role
To create and set up a project role:
Click Contacts.
Go to Project Roles.
Click New in the upper-left corner.
Enter a name for the role, such as Subcontractor, Architect, or Owner.
Click Save.
Select the new role from the list on the left.
Update the permissions on the right.
When you're finished, click Save at the top of the page.

Project Controller Role
If your company creates a project, your company is automatically designated as the Project Creator and inherits the Project Controller role. The Project Controller is the administrative role for the project and provides access to all project data.
If you need to restrict an employee's access so they don't inherit the default Project Controller permissions, create an Employee Role on the project permissions page. This allows you to define a more limited set of permissions for employees who need restricted access.
After you create and set up your project roles, follow the instructions for [adding a user to a project] to assign a role and invite users.
I also changed “linked to the role” to “assigned to that role”, since assigned is more natural and precise when describing the relationship between users/companies and roles.
